Work in Progress: Circular Case

I’m sure my fellow knitters agree: it’s very hard to find a case for your circular needles that organizes them by size AND looks good. Della Q has a good one in The Que but for me, the pouches are kind of small and I’m not crazy about the layout. They do, however, offer their fantastic needle size labels for sale and I bit–surely I can make a circular case that I like. The previous one that I made for a friend had sheer fronts on the pockets so she could see her needles inside. When I get around to making one for myself (everyone else first!), I’m going to use organza again for the pocket fronts. This one, though, is for my yarn shop boss and she picked her own fantastic fabric: giraffe low-pile fake fur for the exterior and this great print for the interior. We agreed that organza would look out of place so these pockets will be opaque.

I have all of the pieces cut and ready to go; tomorrow is for assembly!

I also finally got around to framing my BA. I used scrapbooking papers to make the mats look like corkboard with accents in my school colors. Brads holding up scraps of paper (including my hockey season ticket and the ticket to my commencement ceremony) look like tacks and I used paper scraps, different pens, and sticky notes to write out one of my favorite Mark Twain quotes: Cauliflower is just cabbage with a college education. I had so much fun making this, I hope I get to do it again!
